Mike Baron has been a presence in comics for 35 years, from his own creations Nexus and Badger, to mainstream work like the Flash and the Punisher. Recently he’s turned to thriller and horror novels as a creative outlet, while still keeping Nexus and Badger going. He talks to Tim in this episode about switching from comics writing to prose, balancing grimness and comedy in a story, and more.
This week is a very special episode for me because I chat with one of my all-time favorite comics writers, Mike Baron! You probably know him best from his work on Nexus, The Badger, The Flash and Punisher!
We talk about how he and Devil’s Due/1First Comics are bringing back The Badger, with the first issue of a five-issue miniseries debuting on Wednesday, February 3. Be sure to let your local comics shop know you want this title! We also discuss how he and Steve “The Dude” Rude are creating new Nexus, including a recent Dark Horse Nexus graphic novel and an ongoing Sunday Comics-format series. We also highlight several new projects he has coming soon, so I’m sure you’re going to want to hear what he has to say!
To get The Badger #1 on February 3, be sure to contact your local comics shop! To buy the hardcover Nexus: Into the Past and Other Stories, you can check with your local shops or go to this link at Amazon.com. For more information about the weekly strip, check out rudedudeproductions.com. And keep supporting the excellent products created by Mr. Baron and his collaborators!

Over the years we’ve repeatedly looked at how other media adapt to comics, and vice-versa. This time around, Tim and Kevin look at the challenges of converting comics to audio, including Black & White Nexus #3 (1982) and Daredevil #1 (2011), plus some unofficial takes (including our own!) on Watchmen.
If you know your history, then you understand that I was a hardcore Invincible fan at one point in time. So, how does the book hold up when I return to reading after a ten issue hiatus? Have my thoughts changed?! Also, some opinions on DC Entertainment, a congrats to iFanboy, comic reviews and Jeff Sandquist stops by to share his thoughts on Mesmo Delivery (which I now want to read). Enjoy!
