Wayne’s Comics Podcast #236 With Luke Cooper, Cory Levine

Wayne Hall, Wayne’s Comics, Insane Comics, Luke Cooper, Hollow Girl, Ghost, CoryLevine, Ian Bertram, Brent McKee, Bowery Boys, Our Fathers, New York Story, Dark Horse, Roderick, McGovern, Markus

This week, Episode #236 features two great interviews! First up is Luke Cooper from Insane Comics, creator of Hollow Girl. Here’s the first issue’s description: “Six years ago, little Katherine Harlow killed her own parents. Showing no signs of remorse or regret, she was said to be a girl without a soul. Now, dressed in black except for an expressionless white mask, Kat kills for the dead – a willing vessel for the souls of the wrongfully killed that call out for vengeance. But how did an apparently soulless child become a brutal vigilante? And are the voices that she hears really those of the dead or are they merely symptoms of a dangerous, all-consuming psychosis?” The third issue in this series has just been released, so be sure to go to their website store to get your copy as well as catch up on the first two issues in this series!

Then we wrap things up with a powerful chat with Cory Levine from Bowery Boys, a terrific hardcover historical story dealing with New York City in the 1850s! Here’s how this book is described: “When his father is framed for murder, immigrant son Nikolaus McGovern rallies together a motley crew of street youths in a rip-roaring coming-of-age adventure based on the period history of antebellum New York City! Set against the backdrop of rampant political corruption, vicious street gangs, nascent labor reform and ardent xenophobia–can Niko and his friends triumph in a life-and-death battle against their oppressors, or will they succumb to the engines of socio-economic progress?” We talk about how this tale full of shocks and surprises has come together, Cory’s time at Marvel working on the Soleil collections and what he has planned for the future!  Check with your local comics shop to see if they have this book in stock, and if they don’t, you can order it in paper edition at Amazon at this link, or digitally by going to or for your Kindle as this link at!

Wayne’s Comics Podcast #229 With Brian Berg, Michael NcNaughton

Wayne Hall, Wayne’s Comics, Ghost, Brian Berg, Wade Price, GX, Guardians, Michael McNaughton, Insane Comics,

This week’s episode features two great interviews with creators at Insane Comics! First up is Brian Berg, co-creator of Ghost #1 with Wade Price. Here’s the book’s description: “Crescent City is a place of two worlds. One is of happiness and beauty, the other is a dark place of blood and pain. Corruption flows through the streets as gang leaders and killers make their mark in the deep south. Only one thing stands against them: an urban legend with a thirst for blood. A legend the city calls ‘Ghost.’” We talk about how this great comic came to be as well as what the series is all about!

Then we wrap things up with a fun chat with Michael McNaughton, who does just about everything on GX #1, the first of a high-octane miniseries. What’s this book about? “A dark evil has emerged from the depths of space, in search of a power that would make them gods. They had captured the Boy Guardian of our universe, using the little remaining power he had the Boy Guardian brings together ten unlikely heroes to save our universe! These Guardians ten have been tasked to protect the ultimate power! But first they must learn to be a team, 10 strangers thrown together, a diverse mix of talents and personalities. This epic story takes you on a wild action packed adventure that will touch all of your emotions as it builds up to the climatic finish!” Michael has a Kickstarter campaign underway, and you can support him by going to this link and helping out!

To get your copies of both books, either digital or paper, go to the store at Insane Comics’ website! Be sure to support these great comics!
