View from the Gutters #84 — The Transformers

This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is Transformers Classics, Vol. 1 & 2, which reprints issues #1-25 of the classic 80s Marvel series written by Bill Mantlo, Bob Budiansky, and various artists. First published in 1984, this series provided the basis for much of the Transformers canon, including the names and back history of many of the core characters.

It is a series that shows the wear of age, but nevertheless has a panache that’s hard to beat and an important read for anyone interested in the origins of the Transformers Mythos.

In our recommendation section, our hosts nominated 100 Bullets, Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, The Incredible Hercules, Usagi Yojimbo: Shades of Death, and Thief of Thieves for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is The Incredible Hercules, Vol. 1: Against The World.

We invite you to discuss both this episode and its topic on our subreddit.

Our hosts for this episode are Andrew Chard, Tobiah Panshin, Adam Panshin, Brant Gillihan-Eddy, and Cade Reynolds.
