Andy and Derek are back with another Comics Alternative giveaway! Since July is the month of our nation’s independence, the Two Guys with PhDs Talking about Comics, along with Lone Star Comics in Plano, TX, are interested in what listeners feel are their favorite comics or graphic novels concerning the United States, its history, its culture, its politics, and its people. And for one lucky person, they will be giving away a copy of Derek McCulloch and Colleen Doran’s Gone to Amerikay. This giveaway will also coincide with an upcoming interview that the Two Guys with PhDs will be conducting with the book’s creators, McCulloch and Doran.
To enter the contest, you merely tell Andy and Derek your favorite comic concerning the American experience — that is, “America” as in the U.S. — by doing one of the following:
- Going to The Comics Alternative‘s Facebook page, “Liking” the page (this is important), and then posting on their FB wall your favorite comic(s) related to the United States, its history, its culture, etc. If you have already “Liked” The Comic Alternative‘s Facebook page, that’s fine. In that case you can just post your favorite comic. But it is important that you both “Like” the FB page and comment on the wall. Or…
- On Twitter, making sure that you “Follow” The Comics Alternative, @2guyswithphds, and then tweeting us your favorite comic(s) about the U.S. and including the hashtag #comaltcontest.
The deadline for entries is 12:00 noon Eastern time on July 3rd.
The Two Guys with PhDs will use your Facebook and/or Twitter name for the drawing, and they will get in touch with the winner in that manner. They will announce the lucky winner on their July 3rd on-location show at Lone Star Comics, where they will also be discussing what comics listeners said were their favorites “American experience” comics.
Please, only one entry per live human being (who may have multiple social networking handles). We have ways of knowing!
What better way to celebrate Independence Day than talking about comics that use our nation’s history as a narrative context…and doing so with our good friends at Lone Star Comics in Plano? Be sure to tell your friends, post the contest on Facebook, and retweet like crazy!
