Cape Town Community Podcast – Ep. 023 – “Green Lantern Loves His Chipotle Bacon Ranch Sub”

Hey folks! The Cape Town Community Podcast a relatively new podcast. We review comic books and discuss the news of the week! We hope you give us a listen and enjoy the show!

DC has us itching to head straight to Subway after a series of ads for the fast-food giant have integrated their way into our books. After some discussion about other ways to use DC character to advertise delicious foot long sammies, we head right to the reviews. And there are a lot of excellent reads this week. Of course, we had to open with the finale to Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley’s “Death of Spider-Man” storyline. We also recommend a couple of titles that might have flown beneath your radar.

Cape Town Comic Discussion

00:07:26 Ultimate Spider-Man #160: We were both happy (you know what we mean) with this finale of “The Death of Spiderman.”

00:12:13 Superman #712: Before the big DC relaunch, we’re happy to have gotten what might be the last Krypto story we read for a while.

00:16:29 Rocketeer Adventures #2: Though Jerry was not bowled over by Mark Waid’s story, we both agree that this book has hit enough heights to still strongly recommend.

00:20:17 Avengers Vs. New Ultimates #4: Fulk smash!

00:23:11 Secret Avengers #14: Don thinks this is Nick Spencer’s best work at Marvel, but Jerry is still not sold.

00:27:02 Mystery Men #2: Why you’re not reading this book is the real mystery.

00:29:59 All Nighter #1: Don was surprised to enjoy this fresh indie book.

00:34:32 Captain America #619: Mitch Breitweiser, Butch Guice and Chris Samnee have delivered one of the best looking issues of Captain America in quite some time.

00:38:07 The Mighty Thor #3: Galactus is awesome and Sif is sexy. Olivier Coipel can do no wrong on this book.

00:42:15 Flashpoint: Reverse Flash #1: While we both liked this book, Don was not impressed with the artwork.

00:47:16 Flashpoint: Kid Flash Lost #1: Neither of us were overwhelmed with the return of Sterling Gates to the DCU.

00:49:05 Flashpoint: Lois Lane and the Resistance #1: While we both enjoyed this Flashpoint entry, the artwork was awfully boobish.

00:52:18 Flashpoint: The Outsider #1: While a good read, we were left unhooked by our last Flashpoint title.
