Here’s a great way to celebrate Free Comic Book Day, which happened on Saturday at your local comics shop! Pick up Scout Comics Presents The Mall #0! To get ready for this “Christmas in May” celebration, I talk in Episode 327 with two of the series’ creators – co-writer James Haick and artist Rafael Loureiro! You’ll find out a lot of behind-the-scenes info that will help you enjoy this very first Scout Comics offering on FCBD as well as when the regular series begins soon! For more on Scout Comics, go to their website here! For more about James, check out his Facebook page on Solar Flare as well as his Facebook page on The Mall! Raf has a Facebook page as well, and he can be found on Instragram, too! Here’s the location for one of his art pages! Don’t miss what these up-and-coming comics creators have to say!
He’s back, and boy, does he have a lot of great comics to discuss! In Episode 270, it’s the return of Brendan Deneen, who’s now from Scout Comics! Even though they already have a lot of terrific comics, they’re recently added even more, so we have a lot to talk about during our interview! We talk about the transition from Ardden Entertainment to Scout Comics, what the new company is all about, and we delve into many of the terrific books Scout has available, more than I could possibly fit in this paragraph! For more about Scout and their offerings, go to their website here. During our chat, you’ll get the scoop on many of their excellent comics, including Solarman, Solar Flare, Heavenly Blues, Long Lost, Smoketown and others, so I’m sure you going to want to hear what he has to say!
So often on this podcast, Kickstarter.com comes up, so I thought we’d delve into this subject more in depth with Tyler James, the publisher of ComixTribe and host of the ComixLaunch podcast, which has been recently celebrating their 50th episode! Tyler brought on an unprecedented 50 guests during that show … all creators who have successfully harnessed the power of the Kickstarter platform! The episode is called, “Crowdfunding Comics & Graphic Novels on Kickstarter … and Beyond!” We discuss the ins and outs of running a successful Kickstarter campaign, as well as his tips on what you should avoid. We also explore his extensive experience as a comics creator himself, so don’t miss it!
Recently I attended the first-ever MegaCon Fan Days, and I made two excellent contacts then that turned into interviews I’m sharing during this episode!
First up is James Haike, creator of the excellent independent comic Solar Flare. During our chat, he discusses what inspired him to write this comic, how he assembled the team (including Branko Jovanovic, Song Ye and Michael Legace) who’s bringing it to life and what we can expect to see from them in the future! I’m a big fan of this title, so I strongly recommend that you support James’ current Kickstarter campaign like I have! You can also purchase the individual issues at their website, so don’t miss out! To view the video about the series we discuss during our conversation, go to this link!
Then I conclude this episode with a brief chat with Tim Townsend, who’s working on Marvel’s new Doctor Strange comic with Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo. He talks about what he does to make this great book happen, and tells us a little about the various characters in the Sorcerer Supreme’s life we might or might not see again soon!
Brant, Chris and Mike Spider-Slayer are back with an all-new Comic Chat episode of Zone 4!
In this episode, we discuss the reviews the new Fantastic Four movie is receiving, the new NSFW Red Band trailer for Deadpool, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, and more.
Chris also goes on a rant about comments Dan Didio made in a recent interview about the DC Universe.
The finer points of bacon hotdogs and 7/11 slurpees also come into play.
To wrap things up, we make a couple of Zone 4 related announcements.
