It’s landmark Episode 300 of the Wayne’s Comics Podcast! To celebrate, I’m sharing the great interviews I recorded at this year’s New York Comic Con with many great DC Comics creators, all of which took place from October 4 through the 7th! You’ll hear my chat with Marguerite Bennett from Batwoman and DC’s Bombshells followed by my interview with Flintstones creator Mark Russell. After that is Tim Seeley discussing Green Lanterns, Gail Simone from Wonder Woman/Conan, and Cecil Castellucci, who scripts Shade the Changing Girl, followed by James Tynion IV, who talks about Detective Comics and his new series working with Jim Lee. Next up is legendary creator Neal Adams and a writer new to the show: Ray Fawkes, who is launching a revisited Ragman, and then there’s a brief chat with Steve Orlando about Supergirl. Things wrap up with John Romita, Jr., talking about his upcoming projects with Frank Miller and Superman, among other things! Please note that I did have some slight technical trouble, so you’ll hear a crackle or two, but not often! As always, special thanks to Charlotte Sandler from BH Impact and the folks at DC Comics’ publicity! You’ll find the sequence and times you can hear each interview during the podcast below:

Wayne’s Comics Podcast #250: Neal Adams, Wendy Pini

Wayne Hall, Wayne’s Comics, Neal Adams, Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, Elfquest, Wendy Pini, Richard Pini, Final Quest, Marvel, DC, Cutter, Wolfrider,

Episode 250 is a special one, and it all kicks off with my recent interview with comics legend Neal Adams, who shares his thoughts on what Marvel and DC are doing right and what they’re doing wrong. He talks about his recent work on Superman: The Coming of the Supermen, The CW’s Arrow, and what he has coming our way soon! You can keep up with him at his website at this link!

Then everything wraps up when I bring back one of my favorite interviews, and that was with Wendy Pini from Elfquest! This first aired in Episode 125, but a few months after that, Wendy complimented me by saying online that this was one of her favorite interviews that took place when Elfquest: The Final Quest began.  We talked about many things Elfquest, including how she and Richard Pini make the magic happen, how profound the characters are, her use of computer graphics, and what else she had planned back when this chat first aired, much of which is still relevant today. Don’t miss it!

Next week, we begin the next 250 episodes, and more!

This weeks the guys sit down with the creative team behind the film Keith Larsen and Jackie Zbuska. They talk about how excited they were to create this documentary and talk to some incredible comic legends, all about a company they didn’t know existed a year before. It’s a fun and amazing story so sit back and enjoy!

Comics Alternative Podcast Episode 55.1: Talking with Creators at the October Dallas Comic Con: Fan Days

Fun Times at the Dallas Comic Con

NealAdamsAnother Dallas Comic Con was held this past weekend, October 4-6, at the Irving Convention Center. Derek was there looking through comics, taking in the sights, and talking with a variety of creators and publishers. He recorded his conversations, and you’ll find the fruits of his labor in this new episode. This con was filled wtih celebrities, cosplayers, and comics sellers, but Derek headed straight for the people who are actually the heart and soul of the event: the writers, artists, and publishers of comics. While on the floor JoeEismaDerek was able to get brief interviews with Joe Eisma, Cary Nord, Robert Wilson IV, Josh Howard, Andy Hirsch, Richard Dominguez, Michael Golden, Steve Niles, and comics legend Neal Adams. He also took the time to engage with folks at several independent publishers such as Terror Comics (where you can find Life Is Brutal and Thought Nog), Overground Comics (home of Absent SteveNilesCaptain and Graduate), Space Gun Studios (publishers of The Old Ones and Dash Bradley), Comic Book Divas (with Miss Misery’s A Haunting Desire and Penny Dreadful’s Cauldron of Terror), and the local distributors of Vamplets. There’s lots of fun talk and interesting insights, so listen along as Derek meanders the convention floor.

This episode’s incidental music is brought to you by Devo.
