This week we cover Thor #11 (aka Thor #513) from May of 1999! In the penultimate chapter of the Dark Gods saga, this issue features the return of Skinny Volstagg, Jake Olson crawling around in the sewer, and we notice some similarities with what Jason Aaron is doing in Thor: God of Thunder! Chk chk!!
This week we talk about strong female characters, and the need for good female role-models in comics (ironic for a podcast that has Jane Foster in it!) – Then we continue reviewing Thor vol. 2 with issue #10!! Thor returns to Asgard at last, and takes the fight to Perrikus & company! JR Jr. draws the BEST Kirby Krackle ™, and it looks like Thor will need to be returning to Pittsburgh again soon…
Is Aunt May the stupidest person alive? Find out as we cover Peter Parker: Spider-Man #2, part two of our gratuitous team-up of the month, where our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler teams up with some guy with a hammer to tackle a rhyming demon (or is it two?), and a helicopter that falls *really* slowly…
This week we dip back into the Iron Age well with “Hyndla’s Poem” , and then it’s Thor’s turn to be a jerk in Thor #7, as the thunder god and co-star Hercules find out what’s been going on in Olympus lately!
Music from “Eddan: The Invincible sword of the Elfsmith” is copyright Mats Wendt and is used with permission.
This week we cover Thor vol.2 #6!! This issue features Captain America being a jerk, Hercules being a jerk, Marnot being a jerk, Loki being a jerk, Odin NOT being a jerk (for once) and Thor whining! Excelsior!
This week we have a mini-profile of artist Johnny Romita Jr. before embarking on our review of Thor #4, where we find out that Sedna is the stupidest goddess EVER, and Thor asks the Submariner out on a date! Also, Santa Bondage!
This week you can hear all about marital discord among the gods, and wonder if giantesses have foot fetishes in “The Marriage of Njord and Skadi” – Then we cover Thor #3, as the Inuit sea goddess Sedna attacks New York City!
Music from Eddan: Invincible Sword of the Elf Smith is copyright Mats Wendt, and is used with permission! (Thanks, Mats!)
We start out this week with a discussion of the Norse god Njord! We then have a mini profile of writer Dan Jurgens, before we return to 1998 for Thor #2! While the Avengers fight the Destroyer, Thor’s ghost gets into an argument with Hela…and who the hell is Marnot?
This week, we review three comic books: Hit-Girl #1 from Icon/Millarworld, Amazing Spider-Man #688 from Marvel Comics, and The Hypernaturals #1 from Boom Studios. Three reviews in one episode? You’d be crazy like a lizard to pass up that value. Listen in!
This week on the podcast, we review the start of Marvel’s newest event: Avengers vs. X-Men #1. Have you heard of it? Of course you have. Did the buildup pay off? Is the world ready for another event? Listen in!
What did you think of the start of Avengers vs. X-Men? Head over to our podcast Facebook page and let us know.
This week on Super Podcasto Magnifico, we review Kick-Ass 2 #7 and Super Crooks #1. It’s all Mark Millar this show. For sensitive ears, we dropped in classic Shaw Brothers 5 Deadly Venom clips over the cursing. Now you can listen with the family. Enjoy!
Final video review show for a while! Pick Of The Week goes to Jason Aaron & Renato Guedes for Wolverine #14 (Marvel). Fast Five picks include Superman Beyond #0 (DC), Kick-Ass 2 #3 (Icon), FF #8 (Marvel), American Vampire #18 (Vertigo), and Captain America & Bucky #621 (Marvel).
