Sidekickcast Episode #77 – The Now in a Minute Men

sidekick77

Anyone who’s ever wondered what Soylent Green would be like if it starred Magneto, should hold onto something!
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves…It’s all bidness this episode where the boys discuss the new Star Wars director and Marvel phase 3 amongst the other news!
Then into Stack attack where we hit up Uncanny X-Force 1, Batman 16, Young Avengers 1, Minute Men Finale.
Bones puts an end to Dan’s attempted “Land Grab” last episode (because Dan forgot his fact book) and ups the game on Secrets and Lies – the comic book news quiz with a twist!
Then the boys give you a different take on Smack My Pitch Up for no other reason than they’re under prepared and drunk. Listen in awe as they put your favourite comic book characters into movies you know but maybe don’t love. Awesome outro music provided by @monitorclothing’s Seanus savent. Don’t forget to listen right until the end for some outtake gold!

Sidekickcast Episode #71 – The Bumchin Redux

Presented for the very second time, it’s the Bumchin Redux, starring Cardiff’s answer to Stan Lee; Mikey Bumchin…there’s some other guys along for the ride too in form of Dan, Gavin and Rob Fish. At the start of the episode there’s some uninformed discussion about Marvel Now! and the Sidekicks turn on Bones for his Amazing Spider-Man review.

There’s some reviews in Stack Attack, a Bumchin flavoured Secrets and Lies and the Sidekicks finish off with a little Smack My Pitch Up. If none of that makes any sense you clearly haven’t been paying attention, go back and listen from episode one yo!

Check the out-takes past the outro music too.

After that, we catch up on the issues of Before Watchmen that have come out so far (Minutemen, Silk Spectre, Comedian, Nite Owl, Ozymandias) and our feelings are mixed.

On this episode I talk new books, review “21 Jump St.” and discuss revisiting classic comic works.

Super Podcasto Magnifico! Ep. #92: Sex Sells, But Gay Sex Sells More

Episode #92

This week, we discuss Astonishing X-Men #50 and Northstar’s upcoming nuptials. And just to be fair, we try to guess DC Comics’ newly gay iconic male hero. We’re like The View but with less testosterone. Listen in!

What’s your guess? Head over to our podcast Facebook page and let us know.

Long Box Review Episode 24: Creator vs Contract + the New Vertigo 4

Using Chris Roberson’s public exit from DC as a springboard, we discuss the ethics of corporate contracts and what’s fair to the creators (note: we are not lawyers). Then, at about the 59:30 mark, we discuss the four new Vertigo titles (Fairest, Saucer Country, Voodoo Child, & New Deadwardians).

Thanks for listening!

Sidekickcast Episode #65 – Live and Direct Yo!

This episode of the Sidekickcast is brought you in association with Geek News Radio and was broadcast live on Saturday 18th February.

Join Gavin, Dan and guest host Rob Fish for exactly one hour of live Sidekick and sometimes they even talk about comic books. In the news is Cardiff Comic Expo, the launch of Into the Woods, Before Watchmen and lawsuits a plenty.

A limited Stack Attack due to time constraints but we manage to get in reviews of Batman #6, The New Avengers #21 and Lou Scannon #1.

The comic book news quiz with a twist, Secrets and Lies manages to baffle even the most acute comic book minds but how will Rob Fish, owner of Fish4Comics cope, surely he should have no problem? We finish the podcast with a very brief, Amazing Fantasy Team Up before making way for the rest of that night’s live line up. We even manage to get some out-takes in just after the outro music.
