Damian (sleepyreader666 on YouTube) joins me to discuss the great time we had at Rose City Comic Con 2017 in lovely Portland, OR. We talk about the changes that were made to this year’s con, the panels we attended, our con purchases, and end the show with a bit of conversation about the late, great Len Wein. After you listen to the show, please watch Damian’s RCCC related videos (and subscribe to his channel!) and my RCCC goodies video.
Presenting a joint podcast production with Peter from The Daily Rios podcast (where you can also listen and subscribe to The Legion Project), where we will discuss, issue by issue, the 1984 Legion of Super-Heroes (volume 3) series affectionately known as the “Baxter run”.
Presenting a joint podcast production with Peter from The Daily Rios podcast (where you can also listen and subscribe to The Legion Project), where we will discuss, issue by issue, the 1984 Legion of Super-Heroes (volume 3) series affectionately known as the “Baxter run” (starting with the “Eye for an Eye” story line). In this episode, Peter and I will explain what we’re doing and why, and then we’ll discuss the first of a five-part battle against the Legion of Super-Villains. Please let us know what you thought of our new project and send us any comments or questions that we can talk about on a future episode.
Peter Rios (of The Daily Rios podcast) returns to the show to discuss a wide range of subjects including what we should do about our comic collections after we’re gone, 1980s DC comics that (criminally) haven’t been traded, what he’s been up to since the last time we spoke, podcasting and is it art, DC’s Dark Days: The Forge and Casting, some San Diego Comic Con news, Star Trek, DC vs Marvel, questions from Twitter, and more! Join us next episode for our discussion of the Image Comics series Secret Identities.
I often read James Blundell’s comic book blog, A Comic Book Addict!!, and in May 2017 he posted “So I Wrote a Comic“. He described the process by which he and artist Ayoade Abobarin created a four-page comic titled “The Hipster Beard”. I wanted to know more, so I invited James and Ayoade to talk about their experience.
It’s been over a year since DC Rebirth began. What started in the DC Universe Rebirth special continued in The Button crossover in the Batman and Flash titles, and will culminate in November 2017 in Doomsday Clock. Join Damian, Travis, and I as we discuss all of this and our general thoughts on the latest DC publishing initiative.
I mentioned Sean in the previous episode and now he’s on the big show to chat with me about all sorts of comic book goodness including binge reading comics, trade sharing, DC Rebirth, Grant Morrison, Sandman, Young Justice, the Treasure Valley Comic-Con, and more! I want to thank Sean again for joining me; I had a great time talking comics and whatnot with him!
I had so much fun chatting with Gregg Schigiel, the creator of PIX: One Weirdest Weekend (v1) and the forthcoming second volume, PIX: Too Super for School, which is available May 3, 2017, at your local comic shop or where finer books are sold. We talked about the publication of PIX through Image Comics, and Gregg answers many questions about PIX v1 (if you want to hear a more in-depth summary of PIX v1, listen to Episode 83). I learned a lot about Gregg’s creative process and his love of bears.
Special thanks to George of the George and Tony Entertainment Show for making this conversation possible. See the Links below to find out more about George’s weekly podcast about pop culture.
Superman is reborn! I talk about the events in the Superman Reborn crossover in Superman #18 & 19 and Action Comics #975 & 976. What do I like and don’t like about this change of the status quo? Listen and find out.
