We talk about

This week on the Let’s Talk Comics podcast we welcome writer Joe Keatinge to the show. If comics ever decides to not pan out for Joe, he surely could consider a career in voice over or podcasting with one of the most velvety voices i’ve ever heard. But that’s not the point of today’s show. Every once in a while you find great hybrid like creators in this business who have seen how comics work from all angles. Keatinge took every possible job in this industry that was offered to him. What that eventually let him to do was work at Image Comics as their Marketing/Sales & PR guy, and he than parlayed that into a writing career. Creating comics has always been Joe’s end goal, and his journey is definitely one for folks interested in breaking into the comics industry to listen to. We also cover his experiences working with Rob Liefeld on “Glory,” putting together the award winning anthology series “Popgun,” to breaking in at Marvel with books like “Morbius The Living Vampire,” and “What If? Age Of Ultron.” All in all – a ton of fun, so enjoy!

Tim Across America, part 7! Gordon McAlpin has put in more than a decade on the popular Web comic Multiplex, about kids who work at a movie theater — a concept he had originally thought was stupid! What changed his mind? How has he successfully funded two Kickstarter projects to print books of his comic? He talks with Tim about this in a Minneapolis restaurant, as well as using Patreon for funding, his tools for making the strip, and the good and bad points of letting your characters age.
Plus, a clip from Tim’s appearance on the KFAI Minneapolis radio program True Brit!

Emerald City Comicon 2014 is over. Dylan and I had a great time there wearing our podcast shirts (thanks to Leigh Newman). We talked to so many people and saw some great panels and interviews.
ECCC also marks our 1 year anniversary of working on the show. It was last year at the con that Dylan and I discussed Avengers Vs. X-men and decided that we wanted to do a podcast where we record our discussions about comic book story arcs.
Also, this is our first “live” episode. We recorded this earlier this evening after getting home from the show. We had a great time and look forward to going again next year.
We took some pictures while at ECCC and you can view them here.

The story focuses on Maya Diaz and George Harrison, a white gorilla, who retrieve whatever you want found!
