Superman Fan Podcast Episode #211: Superman 2011: Year In Review!

Superman Fan Podcast

In the fourth annual Year In Review episode, we say Goodbye to the old Superman and say Hello to the New 52 Man of Steel.

I review the final issues of the SUPERMAN: GROUNDED storyline in 2011 in SUPERMAN 707 – 714, the Lex Luthor BLACK RING story in ACTION COMICS 897 – 900,as well as the REIGN OF THE DOOMSDAYS story in ACTION COMICS 900 – 904.

Also reviewed in this episode are the Superman specials: SUPERMAN 80 PG. GIANT, JIMMY OLSEN one shot, SUPERMAN BEYOND 0 and FLASHPOINT: PROJECT SUPERMAN 1 – 3.

Bringing in the new Superman are ACTION COMICS 1 – 4 and SUPERMAN 1 – 3 (issue 4 was published on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, and I was not able to purchase that issue in time for this episode).

I express my views about how the old Superman continuity ended, and my thoughts about the early issues of the New Superman.

Next Episode: SUPERMAN FAMILY COMIC BOOKS COVER DATED MARCH 1957: SUPERMAN’S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 19 & WORLD’S FINEST COMICS 87!

In 2 Weeks: SUPERMAN COMIC BOOKS COVER DATED MAY 1960: SUPERMAN 137 & ACTION COMICS 264!

Fourth Wall Comics Podcast #9

We saved the best for last (the last podcast of 2011, by the way) as Jesse immediately scolds us on the indie direction our podcast has recently taken, and proceeds to course-correct by taking us through his favorite books currently at Marvel Comics. A helluva way to end the year.

Episode 39 — March 1973

Another new release during the holidays?  Yep, that’s how devoted we are to you, our fans!  This time out, we go back to March 1973 to see Superman take on a screaming building, meet the Marigold Twins and meet the Bronze Age Kaman Stowell (nowhere near as cool as the one from Earth-Prime).  Plus, we learn the secret origin of Christopher Chance.  There are also the customary tangents, ads and elsewhere in the DC Multiverse.

If you would be interested in guest co-hosting an episode of Superman in the Bronze Age, please send an email to superbronze1970@gmail.com, and we’ll discuss an episode for you to guest on.

Superman in the Bronze Age is a proud member of the Superman Podcast Network. You may also subscribe to the podcast through iTunes or the RSS Feed.  You can also download the episode directly here.
